About Osteopathy

Osteopaths use a wide range of orthopaedic tests and hands on palpation to diagnose injuries.

Osteopathy seeks to find and treat the root cause of an injury. Invariably we find that a problem or previous injury elsewhere is predisposing a current injury, for example a knee or ankle injury can cause low back pain as the body compensates for these problems through the spine. In order for any injury to heal it requires both a good blood and nerve supply. A good blood supply brings nutrition and oxygen to all cells of the body allowing them to repair and renew themselves. The nerve supply tells the spinal cord how a certain area is functioning and even a tiny degree of entrapment on the nerve can cause chronic pain.

Osteopaths use hands on techniques to manipulate and improve the blood and nerve supply, thus eliminating pain and restoring the patient back to full health.
